Starting Over: Fitness Journey Update

It’s not really starting over, not for me. I think of fitness and physical activity as a lifelong process of ‘on’ and ‘off’ periods. This is a mindset I’ve adopted since becoming a physical therapist and meeting people at all different points of their wellness journeys.

That being said, I hadn’t run in a long time (not consistently since college, which was an upsetting 9 years ago), and rather than build a base and then contemplate my options, I went full Yusra and signed up for a half marathon before I had begun to restart running regularly. I know myself, and I knew I’d need a big kick in the behind something to work towards to return to a regular workout routine.

I don’t have much to share right other than that I’m really enjoying being active again. In addition to running, I’ve been playing badminton with my mom’s friends and I recently renewed my gym membership. I’m trying my best not to worry about pace, effort, etc. and to make my priority just having fun. Everything else will come.
